This project was to design a logo, landing page, and brand identity for a single-person small business. As a Child Passenger Safety Technician, Britney wanted a cheerful style that could balance being highly approachable with being professional enough that parents would trust her with the safety of their small children.

Game & Campaign

Oni Press

Year
2022

Birdwatcher is a game set in the late 1800s, where players compete against each other as rival wildlife photographers. The incredible bird art was created by biologist and scientific illustrator Lauren Helton, all other images, graphics, and layouts were created by me.

Working on this project was a wonderful challenge: several decks of cards, the logo, box design, and rulebook all had to fit into the same aesthetic world while retaining individuality.  The project evolved as we worked on it; playtesting and continual development meant that the design needs shifted weekly, frequently adding or removing components at the last minute.

The Tea Dragon Society Books, Merchandise, & Marketing

Client
Oni Press

Year
2022

The Tea Dragon Society series is a gentle, sweetly magical series of stories about friendship and finding your place in the world. It has been one of Oni’s runaway best-sellers, which has given me the opportunity to design a variety of merchandise, games, ads, social media graphics, and reader/teacher guides. Kay O’Neill’s world is a wonderful place to live, even if only in your imagination, so it’s no surprise that these books and products have been a great success.

As the lead designer for Oni Games, I spearheaded the design side of Oni’s first forays into Kickstarters. Their first Kickstarter product launch was for a Tea Dragon plushie, which was wildly successful, netting over $250,000 in pledges despite being limited to countries in North and South America.

The Quick and Easy Guide Series

Client
Oni Press

Year
2018–2022

The Quick and Easy series of books are short, easy-to-understand introductions to complex ideas, in a form that is cheap enough to make for easy sharing. Working with Oni’s Marketing Department, I created a style that is modern, minimal, and refined enough to work well with a wide variety of artists’ styles, as each volume features creators with direct experience in the topic at hand. A Quick and Easy Guide to They/Them Pronouns was the first book in the series, and has become one of Oni’s best-selling titles.

I have always thrived when crafting captivating covers, pitch-perfect logos, and visually engaging interiors for graphic novels. Every project presents a fresh challenge and an opportunity to bring unique stories to life through thoughtful design. Whether it’s the bold, dynamic visuals of a vampire saga or the intricate, delicate illustrations of a fantasy epic, I pour my passion and creativity into every detail to ensure each book not only stands out on the shelf but also enhances the reader's experience.

Art and Photography

Creating art and photography allows me to connect with the world in a tactile and spontaneous way. Through printmaking, I embrace the uniqueness of each piece, valuing imperfections that tell a story. My candid photography captures the beauty of everyday moments, inspired by old, unposed photos that reflect genuine human experiences. This process is my way of celebrating the ordinary, finding depth and beauty in the mundane, and preserving fleeting moments of authenticity.
